 Media Diary observation

I use social media too much, but not more than most people.

The social media platforms that I mainly use are Instagram and Youtube. I have Facebook account but I rarely use it. Can't really say to be an active poster in Instagram, but I do follow what others are doing. I follow a lot of artists and also keep up with some friends.

I watch Youtube almost every day, usually look for tutorials but sometimes just watch random videos. If it's cute animal videos, good! If it's negative videos that only had an interesting thumbnail, wasted my time.

And of course I watch films, series, read webcomics and play games. I find that they are better ways to consume media than mindless post scrolling.

Spotify and Whatsapp are in my everyday use, and I like them because I don't feel quilty about talking with friends or listening music.

I rarely go anywhere without listening to music and too many times fall asleep with headphones and music on, only to wake up to the dead battery sound,so if that is counted, I almost don't stop consuming media in any point of my day.

Christmascard animation project

Christmas Card Animation Our final task for the Introduction to Animation course was to create 15 to 50 seconds long season greetings animation in a medium of our own decision. I'm sharing my process here because this is an animation project blog after all! First I had to figure out the idea and I did that fast to save time and went for a quite literal Christmas card animation. At first I was planning five different scenes but while making the storyboard I figured there wouldn't be enough time for the animations in the scenes, so decided to limit the scenes for two different main scenes and then there would be page flipping of the Christmas card. Here is a GIF of the final storyboard: I got a lot of good feedback that opened my eyes about the complexities of the animation ahead. First, the page turning would be difficult in that style and would work better with silhouette content. Same goes with the main scenes, because of their detailed looks you are expecting a story to unfol...

Why I want to become an animator

Why I want to become an animator Well I did not want to be an animator when I was young. I didn't think I was able to draw well even when I was certainly drawing a lot. Drawing was only one way to express my ideas that I had for stories. Other outlet was writing and that must have been one of my first dreamjobs, to write books about the stories of my lively imagination. I loved reading comics and watching cartoons and me and my twin sister where able to do that a lot. Probably because that made the twins behave and sit quietly and focused for a while.  I remember how we would act the happenings in the cartoons in our playtime. We would get a sticky tape roll and pretend that it was movie tape and we were filming, acting and later editing a movie. We would create backstories and a world for our toys and have very detailed story series for them. I remember that some kids had trouble keeping up with our plays, but some were instantly excited and into the ideas and usually those became...
