Plague doctor animation 1/2 It is time to make an animation with my favourite tool for it: Krita ! I'm starting with one that has been in my mind since the last spring, when Covid-19 inspired me with plague doctor animation idea. I have always found that mask they wore fascinating and because I like steampunk style was also planning to add that theme in the artwork. I made the first sketch and was planning to make a simple closeup animation of the character and maybe some birds flying in the background and a little bit of smoke. For some reason it never became more than an unfinished sketch, until now! I changed the plan and draw the sketch  ready about the whole character, because in the 2/2 part I will make a city background for it with some animations. I made some slight changes and the final line art keeping in mind the parts I want to animate about the character and draw them to separate layers. Next part took long time but was the most exciting part of the process bec...
2D animation Getting started with tools In the old days animations were drawn on special paper and then transferred onto clear acetate sheets called cels for painting. Then they were photographed frame by frame. Sounds like terrible amount of work, right? Well, hand drawn animators still create their animations frame by frame  using very similar principles as in the beginning. So no laughing for poor  animators of the old times. No need to give up either. Some things have changed! Cels are not in use anymore after scanning drawings into the computer  for digital coloring became possible, and now many hand drawn animators  skip paper altogether and draw directly into the computer using drawing tablets. So yes the process is getting faster all the time. Now that the idea is to become an animator and we have dropped paper and cells from the tools and have a fast glance on my desk where I have my XP-Pen ready for drawing digitally, it's time to choose (2D) animati...

Klaus and why do I like it

Klaus Review It's Christmas soon! Looking for a good film with seasonal theme to watch during the holidays? Well, I got you covered!  Last Christmas I watched this relatively new animated film Klaus and really loved it! Actually I didn't have high hopes for it, just expected another familiar story about Santa Claus, but this movie does it in a fresh way and from a different perspective than others and presents the whole story without magic and the whole thing just works amazingly well. Another thing that made me hooked was the animation style that made me confused about the fact was it 2D or 3D and want to learn about the animation process of it. Klaus is Netflix 's first original animated film and part of an effort to build a library of family programming as it competes with new streaming rivals including Disney+. It was released on November 15th last year and received almost 30 million views during it's first month. SPOILERS AHEAD! The story starts to follow Jesper...
