Hazbin hotel part 2: Cosplay

Hazbin hotel part 2:  Cosplaytime! All the best animated films have a dedicated fanbase, and among it cosplayers who in their part spread awareness of their object of admiration. You can tell that Hazbin Hotel is doing well when you search the characters and find a lot of fanart and cosplays. It's amazing how popular the pilot became in social media. Because Halloween was approaching and I do love to make some cosplays here and there, I decided to make a costume and chose the main character Charlie from Hazbin hotel. She is very passionate, full of ideas and cheerful personality and I really relate to her a lot, so it felt like a fitting match. My dear friend Mona was also excited about the idea and decided to join to Hazbin hotel cosplay as Charlie's girlfriend Vaggie . When the agreement was made, it was time to start research about the characters, especially of course about the outfits and what kind of solutions other cosplayers had found. Charlie's look and outfit: ...

Hazbin hotel

What's this and why is it trending in every media platform? That was my first thought about Hazbin hotel when I started to see these interesting characters and red color everywhere. After repeatedly seeing cosplays and fanart I gave it a chance and haven't regretted at all! I watched some released parts of the Hazbinhotel pilot that Vivziepop had on her youtube channel and fell in love with the style and the characters. Later the ready pilot was released and I felt so happy to be on board so soon with it.   Vivienne Medrano 'Vivziepop'  The creator of Hazbin hotel is Salvadoran-American artist and animator Vivienne Medrano who in 2012 started a webcomic called Zoophobia that gained a large cult followingg. After that she graduated from School of Visual Arts in New York City and majored in traditional animation  He senior thesis film Timber won the 2014 Dusty Award. Plaguedoctor animation 2/2

Background creation  And the work continues! Starting with background sketches. When also the plaguedoctor was just a sketch, I planned to make more of a simple background and this was the beginning of my sketch. Then I wanted to make a bigger one so scaled it a bit: Scaled plaguedoctor in his environment: I worked in a somewhat weird order with this peace and was happy with the sketchy background and started to create the front peaces first. Also the sketch was evolving all the time and I had some trouble with perspective.
Plague doctor animation 1/2 It is time to make an animation with my favourite tool for it: Krita ! I'm starting with one that has been in my mind since the last spring, when Covid-19 inspired me with plague doctor animation idea. I have always found that mask they wore fascinating and because I like steampunk style was also planning to add that theme in the artwork. I made the first sketch and was planning to make a simple closeup animation of the character and maybe some birds flying in the background and a little bit of smoke. For some reason it never became more than an unfinished sketch, until now! I changed the plan and draw the sketch  ready about the whole character, because in the 2/2 part I will make a city background for it with some animations. I made some slight changes and the final line art keeping in mind the parts I want to animate about the character and draw them to separate layers. Next part took long time but was the most exciting part of the process bec...
2D animation Getting started with tools In the old days animations were drawn on special paper and then transferred onto clear acetate sheets called cels for painting. Then they were photographed frame by frame. Sounds like terrible amount of work, right? Well, hand drawn animators still create their animations frame by frame  using very similar principles as in the beginning. So no laughing for poor  animators of the old times. No need to give up either. Some things have changed! Cels are not in use anymore after scanning drawings into the computer  for digital coloring became possible, and now many hand drawn animators  skip paper altogether and draw directly into the computer using drawing tablets. So yes the process is getting faster all the time. Now that the idea is to become an animator and we have dropped paper and cells from the tools and have a fast glance on my desk where I have my XP-Pen ready for drawing digitally, it's time to choose (2D) animati...
Media Diary observation I use social media too much, but not more than most people. The social media platforms that I mainly use are Instagram and Youtube. I have Facebook account but I rarely use it. Can't really say to be an active poster in Instagram, but I do follow what others are doing. I follow a lot of artists and also keep up with some friends. I watch Youtube almost every day, usually look for tutorials but sometimes just watch random videos. If it's cute animal videos, good! If it's negative videos that only had an interesting thumbnail, wasted my time. And of course I watch films, series, read webcomics and play games. I find that they are better ways to consume media than mindless post scrolling. Spotify and Whatsapp are in my everyday use, and I like them because I don't feel quilty about talking with friends or listening music.  I rarely go anywhere without listening to music and too many times fall asleep with headphones and music on, only to wake up t...
BLOG INTRODUCTION Hello and welcome to my first ever blog! I'm Nina, a first year Interactive Media student in TAMK. It was quite easy for me to decide the topic of my blog. I wanted it to be something I will focus on with passion and since my first focus is learning animation and I'm waiting for the introduction course to start I decided to make myself ready with having a bit of research about the subject myself. The goal is to get a good overall picture about animation, what skills I already have, what there is to learn, different softwares, techniques and my preferences that may arise and share them here. It is very broad subject, but I'm sure with this blog I'll be more prepared for the animation courses ahead of me.  Wish me luck and join the journey! My hobbies: cosplay, dancing, drawing, painting, writing, comics, a little gaming Favorite color: green Pets: two cats Shifu & Yoda
